Rev. Annette Flynn
Annette loves God and the Church. As is true of many who deeply love the Church, Annette sometimes finds herself very angry when particular organizational bodies fail to take seriously the call to be the Body of Christ in the world. She is an ordained United Methodist pastor, having received her M. Div at The Divinity School, Duke University. After several appointments as a local church pastor, Annette was asked by her Bishop to be the first Director of The Wesley Institute (a Cabinet-level position to develop and oversee continuing education for the clergy of her Annual Conference). During the time she spent developing that Institute, Annette saw her passion for the Church move in a new direction. She learned that her experience moving from seminary to the local church was true for the majority of other clergy: they might be trained in theology, church history, and homiletics, but nobody had taught her the basics of leading an effective organization. Annette returned to school and earned a Masters in Organization Development from Pepperdine University. She now uses her theological background, local church experience, and training in organization leadership to work with local pastors, churches, denominational governing bodies, and non-profit leaders to bring the tools of organization development to those who hunger for it. Annette is married to Mark Flynn and has two beautiful children, Anna and Mary.
